Janet is a partner of INQ Law, focusing on the health care sector. In her corporate and commercial practice, she advocates for her clients by negotiating, overseeing and drafting complex agreements. Janet’s expertise extends to risk management at the clinical and institutional level. She also provides counsel to clients in response to incidents as well as in the proactive development of policies and protocols.
With a proven track record in health privacy law, Janet advises clients on a wide range of matters related to privacy, data governance and data protection. She previously was the Privacy Officer at a leading health institution where she gained experience in cyber preparedness, cyber insurance and incident response management. She also has deep expertise in complex insurance law, both as it relates to healthcare and other institutions.
Prior to joining INQ Law, Janet was vice president and general counsel at the Medcan Clinic, managing its legal portfolio for both its commercial and clinical businesses. In this role she oversaw employment issues unique to a health institution, played a major role in risk management and mitigation, and liaised with public health institutions. Previously, Janet was a litigation lawyer in both the public and private sector.
Janet regularly speaks on topics relating to privacy, risk management and workplace management, specializing in workplace mental health and addiction issues.
